About Us
The Mount Vernon Church of Christ stands on God's word.
Our organization, our worship, our missions, our outreaches, our teaching, our hope, and our love are all derived from the teachings of the New Testament.
When you visit us, you will find our singing a capella (Ephesians 5:19), prayers lifted up to God (Acts 2:42), preaching from God’s Word (2 Timothy 4:2), giving as our means of support (1 Corinthians 16:1-2), and weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7).
We live to serve a risen and living Savior (Galatians 2:20) and long for His return (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Biblical Teaching
At the Mount Vernon church of Christ, we strive to teach "the whole counsel of God" (Acts 20:27). We teach God's word because it is only by God's word that we can be "complete" and "thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Missions
Our congregation has been involved in mission works on a global scale for decades. For many years, we have supported foreign missionaries.
We have begun to produce and broadcast podcasts designed to encourage and foster spiritual growth.
We support and work closely with a local mission work, the Home of Recovery and Restoration, to assist men who find themselves caught up in addiction.
We support The Lamb's Academy of Biblical Studies and other schools of preaching, such as the Brown Trail School of Preaching and the Southwest School of Bible Studies.
Our congregation also supports Camp Ida, a Christian youth camp located in Maud, TX.
Gospel Meetings, Summer Series, and Workshops
In addition to our regular preaching and Bible classes, we do our best to provide our members with opportunities for spiritual growth.
Every year, we:
- Bring in a guest preacher for a Gospel Meeting.
- Host a Wednesday Night Summer Series.
- Host the annual Make Me A Servant Workshop.
